Northern Door County is known for several things but chief among them is its Charm. Beyond the tranquility and peaceful nature of the peninsula, you will catch sight of some of the most beautiful views in the region, quaint shops, delicious locally sourced food in many of the restaurants, and a slower pace of living.
We take pride in promoting and preserving the history of our half-century-old Inn and those families who lovingly operated and built what it is today. The 15 room Inn is steeped in unchanged mid-century design and decor. The common spaces shine with the original paneled wood leading to spacious air-conditioned rooms with earlier period fabrics and furniture. Our rooms are clean, comfortable and provide solitude with views of the bay or lush rear yard with ample outdoor seating.
The adjoining German-inspired restaurant Hugel Haus and "Wurst" bar of Door County serve delectable German-inspired dishes that both locals and guests rave about.
We invite you to Ellison Bay to embark on a pleasant journey during all 4 seasons as the scenery changes with new sounds, feelings, smells, and new color palettes throughout the year.
Amenities & Things To Do
We are directly across from the beautiful and fun Ellison Bay Community Park & Beach.
The park is ideal for families and guests to spend the day playing and relaxing.
Offering tennis courts, children’s playground, grills with picnic tables, and plenty of grass to spread out a blanket and relax. There is a sandy beach for swimming along with a dock to jump into the bay or fish from. There is a covered gazebo to come in out of the rain and the Community Center (formerly known as the Women’s Club) building can be rented for family reunions, weddings, and other gatherings.

The Hillside Inn (Grandpa Gordy) created a tradition many years ago offering a place of gathering over a cup of coffee for not only the guests but also the locals and it's our honor to keep this tradition alive.
Free On-site Parking
We’re happy to provide our guests with free on-site parking. We offer two conveniently located entry doors to help with unloading and loading luggage with ease. We also have limited spaces for boats. Please let us know when booking a room if you have a boat so we can do our best to accommodate your parking needs.
