HOTEL POLICIES & TERMS
We strive to provide our guests with an exceptionally clean, safe, and friendly hotel experience. The following Hotel Policy/House Rules have been established based on industry standards, management and operational procedures, and our personal experience of owning and operating the Hillside Inn. The Hotel Policy/House Rules are considered a part of our reservation agreement with you. As our hotel guest, upon making a reservation with us and upon check-in you are agreeing to abide by all of our Hotel Policy/House Rules, terms and conditions, and procedures. These Hotel Policy/House Rules are presented here to help promote our guests’ safety and enjoyment and to ensure that each guest is aware of the understanding between the Hillside Inn and the guest. Our Hotel Policy/House Rules may change from time to time, so please check back often.

Late Check-In: Check-In Time: 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm. If checking in later than 9 pm please call 920-854-2928 to make proper arrangements.

Check-out Time: The room rental period expires at 10:00 a.m. Additional day charge, plus tax may apply for late checkout.
Check-out Procedure: Check-out time is 10 a.m. Please check out with the Front Desk attendant, Housekeeping, or leave your keys at the front desk and your room door open so that housekeeping may begin cleaning your room as soon as possible. If you require a later check-out, please contact Front Desk prior to the day of your departure and we will do our best to accommodate your request. A charge may apply for late check-out.

Reservation Policy - Two nights minimum during spring, summer, and fall seasons.
All reservations must be made with a valid major credit card. Guests must be 21 years and older. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card. We do not charge your credit card at the time you make your reservations. Your credit card guarantees your reservations. Please make sure to receive a reservation confirmation number when you make a reservation. Reservations must be canceled Seventy-two (72 hours), hotel time, prior to your arrival date, to avoid a cancellation fee. If you have not checked in by midnight of the expected date of arrival, a NO-SHOW charge of one room night, plus tax will be charged to your credit card and the balance of your reservations will be canceled. Hillside Inn is not responsible for weather conditions, personal emergencies, or schedule changes.

Cancellation Policy – At Hillside Inn, we understand that life sometimes throws us curveballs, and plans unexpectedly change. However, cancellations affect us greatly as well, therefore you must agree to the following cancellation policy at the time of booking:

Reservations canceled 3-days (72 hours) or less prior to your arrival date will be charged in full unless your room(s) is re-booked by another party. We will make every effort to re-book your room(s) and will refund any room(s) we are able to re-book minus a $50 cancellation fee per room reserved.*

If you have paid in full prior to your check-in, refunds are issued back to the account in which the deposit was issued within 48-72 business hours from the date of cancellation notice.

Hillside Inn does not take responsibility for changes to your reservation due to inclement weather, unforeseen changes to travel plans, personal sickness or injury, or family emergencies.
No refunds are provided for late arrivals, early departures, no-shows, or weather-related cancellations. Guests who check out of the hotel prior to their scheduled departure date are subject to an early departure fee of one night, plus tax.
Cancellations MUST be made by phone, not via email.
If you made your reservation through a third-party website such as Booking.com, Expedia, Hotel Tonight, Airbnb, etc…you are bound to the cancellation policies agreed to when booking on their website. The cancellation policies on their website do differ from our standard cancellation policies and range between 50%-100% loss of your deposit. Any reservation made on a third-party website must be canceled through the third-party website.
By booking directly with Hillside Inn via www.hillsideinnellisonbay.com or by phone, you are always better protected.

Payments – All rates are subject to 13.5.0% State, Local and Door County Tourism taxes. We accept All Credit Cards which include American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We do not accept checks. We do not provide check cashing services. We do not accept payment through Venmo, Pay pal, Cash App, etc.

Special Requests: We will make every effort to honor special requests such as a specific room number, adjoining rooms, roll-away beds, refrigerator, etc. at the time of making a reservation or upon your arrival. All special requests are noted on reservations, and we will do our best to accommodate them. However, the availability of these items cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability.

Housekeeping Services And Access To Rooms: To comply with the Stay Safe Guidelines by the American Hotel & Lodging Association and in anticipation of individual concerns of guests, housekeeping is not entering guest’s room during a stay unless specifically requested by the guest. For your comfort, we want your stay to be as undisturbed as possible therefore should you need anything at all such as used towels exchanged for fresh towels, garbage removal, or additional amenities housekeeping is available to assist you between 8 am – 1 pm or you may visit the front desk for assistance.
If your stay is 2 days or more, you may schedule housekeeping services with the front desk attendant. Management reserves the right to enter a room with a known status of “ DO-NOT DISTURB” for reasonable purposes, such as an emergency, or maintenance, and to verify that the room, its furnishings, and mechanical equipment are intact, or to address or prevent a violation of our Hotel Policy/House Rules. In the event of suspected illegal activity, management reserves the right to summon law enforcement to aid in eviction. The right to privacy ends when a Hotel Policy/House Rule is broken. Law enforcement will be granted immediate access to hotel property and rooms of evicted guests.

No Smoking Policy - Wisconsin state law prohibits smoking in all private and public rooms.
Hillside Inn also has a no-smoking policy on all private patios.
All Smoking is prohibited unless outdoors 20 feet or more, from entrances, windows and public outdoor seating areas. Please be careful to extinguish all smoking materials and deposit them in appropriate waste receptacles. Please be considerate of fellow guests.
There will be a $200 deep cleaning fee if, in the opinion of management, there has been smoking in a room which necessitates cleaning draperies, carpet, and linens.

Quiet Hours: 10:00 p.m. to 8 a.m. Please be mindful of other guests, especially during the times noted above. Televisions, voices, or other devices must be always kept at a respectful low level. Doors should be opened and closed quietly

Children: Children of all ages are welcome. Children aged 17 and under stay for free when sharing a room with one or more paying adult(s), using existing bedding. As the parents, guardians, or chaperones of children you are personally and legally responsible for and must always supervise them. For safety reasons, please do not leave children unattended in guest rooms or allow them to roam the hotel property unsupervised.

Maximum Occupancy: Room occupancy requirements are based on fire code/fire safety restrictions. Standard Room maximum occupancy is 4, King 2, If you exceed the maximum number of guests allowed, you will be asked to rent another guestroom for proper accommodations or vacate the hotel.

Room keys: Room keys are issued to the registered guest(s). No room keys will be issued to youth under 18 at any time. Please return room keys to Front Desk at Check-out. A lost key fee of $10 per key will be charged if all keys are not returned at check-out.

Lost & Found Policy: Hillside Inn assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings. If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please call us immediately at (920) 854-28928 and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item. Any item, with the exception of perishable items, left behind by our guests and found after departure by Housekeeping will be collected, logged in, and kept in a secure location for collection by the owner for up to thirty (30) days.
A reasonable effort will be made to notify the guest that an item has been found. Perishable items, underwear, and miscellaneous toiletries are discarded. If the guest's contact information is incorrect or the cell phone mailbox is full and we are unable to contact the guest during the thirty (30) day holding period, the unclaimed item(s) are thrown away, given to local organizations, or disposed of accordingly by Hillside Inn.

We would be happy to return your lost item(s) to you by United States Postal Service. Your credit card will be charged packaging and postage, plus a $5.00 handling fee. A separate receipt will be mailed/emailed to you. Hillside Inn is not responsible for any item lost or misdirected during shipment by the United States Postal Service. For any lost mail please contact the USPS Customer Service Department at 1-800-275-8777.

Illness and Epidemics:
Hillside Inn reserves the right to refuse accommodations to a guest arriving with a contagious disease. In cases where sickness occurs during the stay, please notify the Front Desk staff. During epidemics, we are entitled to employ precautionary measures within our judgment or as required by local authorities. We may charge you a room cleaning fee as we deem appropriate under the circumstances.
Parking At Own Risk:
All vehicle(s) must be listed at check-in. Parking for registered guest(s) is free. All vehicles are parked at the risk of the owner. Hillside Inn shall not assume liability or responsibility for any vehicle, occupants, boats, trailers, or contents while operated or parked on the hotel property. If a vehicle is left in the hotel parking lot after the guest has departed without the written consent of the hotel, the hotel reserves the right to have the vehicle towed at the owner’s expense. No vehicle repairs on hotel premises.

Gift Certificates: Please contact the hotel directly to purchase or redeem gift certificates (920) 854-2928. Unless the transaction takes place directly at the hotel.
Damage and/or Theft of Hotel Property: You are liable for any damage howsoever caused (whether by the deliberate, negligent, or reckless act) to the room (s), hotel’s premises, or property caused by you or any person in your party whether or not staying at the hotel during your stay. Hillside Inn reserves the right to retain your credit card and/or debit card details as presented at registration and charge or debit the credit /debit card in such amounts as it shall in its sole discretion deem necessary to compensate or make good of the cost or expenses incurred or suffered by Hillside Inn as a result of the aforesaid. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the Hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, unauthorized pets/animals, smoking fee, cleaning fee, extra guest compensation, etc. We will make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting a specialist to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.
Damage Discovered After Check-Out: Guest Rooms found with waste strewn around, in complete disorder, and/or “trashed” will be subject to maintenance deep cleaning fee, administration fee, and/or third-party fees.
Damage To Room(s): Damage to rooms, fixtures, furnishing, and equipment including the removal of electronic equipment, towels, artwork, etc. will be charged at 120% of full and new replacement value plus any shipping and handling charges. Any damage to hotel property, whether accidental or willful, is the responsibility of the registered guest for each particular room. Any costs associated with repairs and/or replacement will be charged to the credit card of the registered guest. In extreme cases, criminal charges will be pursued.
Damage To Mattresses And Bedding: Damage to mattresses and linen including; towels, mattress pads, sheets, bedspreads, and blankets resulting from the use of body oils, make-up, shoe & shoe polish, outdoor usage (beach, fishing, hiking), etc. will result in a charge for the special cleaning, repair or replacement of the damaged article.
Damage Or Tampering With Fire Detection Systems/Fire-Fighting Equipment: Hillside Inn reserves the right to take action against any guest or visitor found to have tampered with or interfered with any detection equipment throughout the hotel, including detector heads in public areas, guest rooms, exit signs, and fire extinguishers. Guests or visitors found to have tampered with any fire detection or fire-fighting equipment will be charged with any costs incurred by the hotel due to their actions and will be evicted from the hotel. Depending on the severity of the guest's actions, law enforcement may become involved at the hotel’s discretion. Should the fact that fire-fighting or detection equipment had been tampered with coming to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the Hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, guest compensation, etc.
Tax Exempt Guests: Guests must provide the organization's CES number/certificate. If the tax-exempt status cannot be verified at check-in you will be charged a lodging tax until verification is made.
Rates: All rates are quoted in United States currency, plus tax. Rates may increase without notice. Rates as advertised on the Hillside Inn website, or any other website or promotional material are subject to change at any time and may increase or decrease at the hotel’s discretion. Rates are based on the standard room (1-4 occupancy), king (1-2 occupancy), and are subject to availability.
Right To Refuse Service: Hillside Inn is family owned and operated. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason(s) that does not violate Federal or State laws. Hillside Inn has a zero-tolerance policy in which we will refuse to admit or refuse service or accommodation in our hotel or may remove a person, without refund, who refuses to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by the State of Wisconsin and the owners for the operation and management of the hotel. Hillside Inn will refuse service or evict a guest: for refusal or failure to pay for accommodations, is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substance and acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests, or is not in compliance with state liquor laws; acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests; is unable to properly supervise their children at all times, seeks to use the hotel for an unlawful purpose; seeks to bring into the hotel: an unlawfully possessed firearm; or something, including an explosive or hazardous or toxic substance, that is unlawful to possess and that may be dangerous to other persons; destroys, damages, defaces, or threatens harm to hotel property or guests; causes or permits persons to exceed the maximum allowable occupancy of a room, refuses to abide by the reasonable standards or policies established by Hillside Inn for the operation and management of our hotel.
In Care Of Emergency or Fire: For Emergencies, please call 911. Please notify Front Desk in the event of a fire or other emergencies. A map that shows emergency exits can be found on the back of your room door and in the Guest Information Notebook located in each guest room. You may also find a list of all Door County Medical & Emergency Contact Information on the bulletin board next to the office as well as the lobby desk during closed hours.
